UK HVAC/J&U Services Limited continues to be at the forefront in developing innovative approaches to heating and hot water solutions. For nearly 20 years, we have been building bespoke solutions for our customers to own. This allows our clients to utilise to meet their needs or their customers’ needs. Heating and hot water are fundamental requirements that those not in this industry may perhaps take for granted. Our Packaged Plant Rooms for sale are a superb option for a number of different applications.

Our more recent innovations, led by our Technical Director, have been the use of condensing units. This provides a low NOx, modular option for the client. One customer has commissioned us to build nine of these units at the same time, all providing 500kw of heating and hot water provision.

Packaged Plant Rooms, as discussed in previous posts, are increasingly viable for sites that have existing plant rooms that are not economical to re-fit or have an asbestos issue. The Packaged Plant room can be situated outside in either a 10 or 20 foot shipping style container or in a ‘horse box’ style mobile trailer.

We can also apply this innovation to Steam technology. We have installed a 2000kg per hour Steam Boiler into a 20-foot shipping container with its associated ancillaries, including a feed water tank. Our unique blend of boiler engineers and pipefitters work together to build these units.

Packaged Plant Rooms for sale, as opposed to for hire, can be a permanent fixture. These units usually situated near the original plant room. The mobile version can offer even more flexibility. We build your bespoke Packaged Plant Room here in Stoke-on-Trent and deliver it to the site. We are also equipped to install and commission the boiler if so desired.

UK HVAC is proud to partner with FBR Burners of Italy. We continue to fulfill the privileged position of UK distributor both parts and burners. The focus here is on parts. You can order individual FBR burner parts but you may want to consider creating your own service/repair kits for your FBR burners.

FBR Parts Kits

We recommend the same parts boxes that our sister company J&U Services uses to service our own burners (our own hire boilers) or those of our customers. J&U has parts boxes for all of burners in our fleet. We can sell you these from stock. The contents of the boxes are not an exhaustive list of all the parts that may be required for the burner in question but they are a safe bet for most repairs/services.

Current burners we carry Service Box stock for;

Gas/Oil X3, X5’s,Gas/Oil P70’s,Gas XP60 and Oil FGP 50’s.

Delivery for these parts boxes would be 3-5 working days. However, if your burner is not listed above we can source your burner service kit items with a 10-14 working day lead time. Our stock is held here in Staffordshire in the UK. This provides us with a central location allowing us to take on projects across the UK and conveniently dispatch goods.

Whatever your FBR burner we are here to help. If you are considering an FBR burner don’t hesitate to get in touch. We would be delighted to support you in any of your Burner and Burner parts requirements. UKHVAC can also provide Boilers, both hot water and Steam on the fuel source of your choice.

Typically these boxes will contain ignition cables, probe cables, ionisation probes, ignition transformer, servo-motors, control boxes, pressure switches and flange gaskets. We can also provide service boxes for duel fuel burners.

Gas Burners, Oil Burners, and Dual Fuel Burners: Which Is Right for Your Heating System?

Selecting the appropriate burner for your heating system is a crucial decision. Gas burners, oil burners, and dual fuel burners each have their own set of advantages and applications. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore the characteristics, benefits, and considerations for choosing the right burner for your heating needs.

Understanding Gas Burners:

Gas burners are a popular choice for heating systems for several reasons:

Efficiency: Gas burners are known for their high energy efficiency and clean combustion. They produce fewer emissions, making them environmentally friendly.

Cost-Effectiveness: Natural gas is often more affordable than oil, which can lead to cost savings over time.

Clean Operation: Gas burners require minimal maintenance and produce minimal soot and ash, resulting in cleaner equipment and reduced maintenance costs.

Quick Start-Up: Gas burners provide instant heat, making them suitable for applications where rapid temperature adjustments are needed.

Applications: Gas burners are commonly used in heating systems, water heaters, industrial furnaces, and various commercial applications.

Understanding Oil Burners:

Oil burners have their own unique advantages and applications:

Versatility: Oil burners can run on various types of fuel oil, providing flexibility in choosing the most cost-effective option for your region.

High Energy Density: Oil has a high energy density, which means it can produce a substantial amount of heat in a relatively small volume.

Long Burn Times: Oil burners can operate for extended periods without frequent refuelling, making them suitable for continuous heating.

Cold Weather Performance: Oil burners can perform well in colder climates and are not affected by supply interruptions in the gas network.

Applications: Oil burners are often found in industrial and commercial heating systems and remote locations without access to natural gas.

Understanding Dual Fuel Burners:

Dual fuel burners offer a combination of gas and oil capabilities, providing several benefits:

Fuel Flexibility: Dual fuel burners allow users to switch between gas and oil, ensuring uninterrupted heating even if one fuel source becomes unavailable.

Energy Efficiency: They can be set to operate on the most cost-effective fuel source, promoting efficiency and cost savings.

Emissions Control: Dual fuel burners offer the option to switch to cleaner-burning gas when environmental regulations require reduced emissions.

Applications: Dual fuel burners are commonly employed in industrial processes, large commercial buildings, and critical applications where uninterrupted heating is essential.

Choosing the Right Burner:

To select the right burner for your heating system, consider the following factors:

Fuel Availability: Assess the availability and cost of gas and oil in your location.

Energy Efficiency: Determine which fuel source aligns with your energy efficiency and emissions goals.

Application Needs: Consider the specific requirements of your heating system, including capacity, temperature range, and start-up time.

Maintenance and Service: Evaluate the maintenance and service requirements of the chosen burner.

Conclusion:

Selecting the ideal burner for your heating system is a critical decision that requires careful consideration of your location, heating needs, and environmental goals. Whether you choose a gas burner, oil burner, or a dual fuel burner, understanding their characteristics and applications is key to ensuring optimal performance and efficiency in your heating system. Make your decision based on the factors that matter most to your unique heating requirements.

For help choosing the correct burner for your requirements, our knowledgeable team can assist you in choosing the correct burner for your requirements. Contact us today at UKHVAC for your commercial and industrial burners.

FBR Burner Profile

Here at UKHVAC we are proud to be the UK distributor of FBR burners. There is one FBR burner that is particularly popular and that is FBR Gas X5 Burner.

The FBR Gas X5 Burner is our biggest-selling FBR burner. Italian-based FBR Bruciatori has been designing and manufacturing burners since 1969, this particular burner proves to be our best seller.

This iteration comes in different configurations.

Single stage vs 2 Stage – A burner with single-stage heating contains a fixed gas valve and single-speed blower motor. These burners are either running at full or completely off. A 2 Stage burner has a 2 Stage gas valve and a blower that is variable. A 2-stage gas valve can reduce wear and tear on the furnace.

Short head (TC) vs long head (TL). This depends on the boiler. The size of the boiler dictates the size of the head required.

Modulating vs non-modulating. A modulating burner can adapt to the variable demands placed on it by changing load demands of the boiler. A modulating burner is more efficient. It will ensure the burner stays at the correct air and fuel ratios.

There is also an oil X5 variant for applications without access to a gas supply or oil is simply the preferred fuel. Let us know what type of oil you have on-site and we will advise.

If you email Geoff on geoff@juservices.co.uk and let us know what Boiler you currently use, we can then speak to the technical team at FBR and establish what most fits your needs.

Wine Industry Boilers

The wine industry requires a lot of heat, especially during production. Boilers are an essential component in wine production and play a crucial role in ensuring the process runs smoothly. UKHVAC is a company that specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of boilers for the wine industry.

What are Boilers?

Boilers are equipment that can heat water to produce steam. This is then used to provide heat or power. In the wine industry, boilers are used to heat water for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, heating rooms and buildings, and providing heat for the fermentation process. There are different types of boilers used in the wine industry, including fire-tube boilers and water-tube boilers.

Fire-tube Boilers

Fire-tube boilers are the most common type of boiler used in the wine industry. They are easy to operate and maintain and are relatively inexpensive. Fire-tube boilers use a series of tubes that are filled with water and heated by a burner. The hot gases produced by the burner pass through the tubes, heating the water in the process. The steam produced is then used for various applications.

Water-tube Boilers

Water-tube boilers are another type of boiler used in the wine-making process. They are more complex than fire-tube boilers but are more efficient and can handle higher pressures. Water-tube boilers use a series of tubes that are filled with water and heated by a burner. The hot gases produced by the burner pass over the tubes, heating the water in the process. The steam produced is then used for various applications.

Benefits of Using Boilers in the wine making process

Boilers are an essential component of the wine industry and offer many benefits. One of the most significant benefits is the ability to produce steam, which is used for various applications such as cleaning and sanitizing equipment, heating rooms and buildings, and providing heat for the fermentation process. Boilers also provide a reliable and efficient source of heat, which is essential for wine production.

Maintenance and Repair of Boilers

Boilers require regular maintenance to ensure they operate efficiently and safely. J & U Services , UKHVAV’s sister company, offers a range of maintenance services for boilers, including inspections, cleaning, and repairs. Regular maintenance can help to identify any potential issues before they become more serious and can help to extend the lifespan of the boiler.

In the event of a boiler breakdown, J&U Services also offers repair services to ensure that the boiler is back up and running as soon as possible. They have a team of highly skilled engineers who can diagnose and repair any issues with the boiler.

Conclusion

Boilers are an essential component of the wine industry and play a crucial role in ensuring the production process runs smoothly. UKHVAC is a company that specializes in the installation, maintenance, and repair of boilers for the wine industry. They offer a range of services to ensure that boilers operate efficiently and safely, providing a reliable heat source for the wine production process.

What’s in our Mobile Plant Rooms

UK HVAC specialises in the design and build of Mobile Plant Rooms as previous blogs have discussed. While the majority of our Mobile Plant Rooms have wall-hung condensing boilers, some have contained traditional shell and tube units.

Shell and tube vs condensing boilers

Shell and Tube vs Condensing boilers. The first difference to point out is the clear visual difference. Our wall-hung units are usually smaller modular units. Often in an arrangement of 4-6 separate units whose appearance is very similar to the boilers we may see in people’s homes. They are usually white and are reminiscent of the white goods we have in our kitchens.

Shell and tube boilers (see featured image) are larger units that virtue of their size and configuration, are sited on the floor. They have a larger capacity than one of our single condensing units. They are therefore larger and heavier. This means that just one boiler per trailer if it’s a shell and tube design usually.

For some organisations, it is simply not a choice. They must have condensing boilers due to local legislation. https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/emissions-of-air-pollutants/emissions-of-air-pollutants-in-the-uk-nitrogen-oxides-nox

So where the Mobile Plant Room is going plays a part in a customer’s choice. The condensing unit is more efficient than the shell and tube therefore less polluting to the environment. It doesn’t need as much fuel (ie; natural gas) to operate therefore producing lower emissions.

There are still arguments for the use of shell and tube boilers. One argument could simply be down to cost. Despite the saving in fuel, the customer may find the initial outlay over thier cap ex budget. There is a prevailing belief that shell and tube boilers have a longer lifespan than their condensing cousins. Some of this will take time to prove.

Ultimately, where you are, your budget and your personal preferences will dictate what type of boiler you want in your Mobile Plant Room.
